Welcome to the Boston EITC Coalition's volunteer registration and training signup website!  This website will help you view and signup for the Coalition's many trainings and events.  To do this, you must first sign in  (New to this website? Click here to register first).

Complete the following steps to become a volunteer tax preparer at one of our many tax sites for the 2008 Tax Filing Season (Click here for a complete tax site listing):

1.       Signup for a training by selecting one from the list at the bottom of this page(dates & locations are also listed).

2.       Become a certified Volunteer Tax Preparer through one of the following paths:

a.       New Volunteers: You must attend a tax preparation/software training as well as pass the IRS’s online certification exam. You can take the test either at one of our testing sessions (you must sign up for one on the event calendar) or take the exam on your own (you’ll need a computer with internet access to do this).   

b.       Returning Volunteers: If you choose, you may skip the full training and take the IRS's online certification test.  This can be done on your own or at one of our testing/certification sessions (you’ll need to sign up for one on our event calendar). Note: We are requesting that returning volunteers take the certification exam prior to January in order to free up training space for new volunteers.

c.       Volunteers with Tax Law Knowledge/Experience: Please contact Brian Robinson at brian.robinson.jcs@cityofboston.gov for alternative training options. 

3.       Select a tax site at which to volunteer.  Note: New volunteers will be asked first to list their 3 tax site preferences, while returning volunteers have the option of volunteering at their previous site or selecting a different site.  All volunteers will be asked to indicate their site selection at the end of testing sessions; volunteers who opt to take the exam on their own will be e-mailed a site selection form.  

            4.   Setup a volunteer schedule with the Site Coordinator from your tax site.
